Here's a quick Getting to Know You idea:

 

Set up the names of the kids in your class in the Random Name Generator

 

Pull out one of the die

 

Write 3-6 questions on the Board. Some ideas are below

 

• Tell us something fun you did this summer
• Tell us about your pets
• Tell us about your favorite/best subject in school
• If you could be an animal, what would you be? 
• What was the last great book you read? 

Use the random generator to choose a student. That student then rolls the die to find out which question he/she has to answer.

Thanks to everyone for joining us at Elder High School for the past two days of SMARTBoard fun. It was so exciting and inspiring to see so many teachers gathered to learn and to share information about technology in the classroom. Whoo hoo!

Below are the two items I left off the handout. Sorry about that. Enjoy. And have a great school year!

3.     * Magic Eraser trick

Basically, you are typing something, or inserting a picture or whatever, and then covering it with white ink from the pen, and then erasing the white ink.

a. Type your answer, insert your image, etc. Be sure to use a tool. Also be sure to have a line or something to indicate where students should erase to make this work.

b. Select the PEN tool

c. Select the PROPERTIES TAB or Tool

d. Choose LINE STYLE

e. Choose white (bottom right). If your background is another color, choose that color

f. Choose a thicker line width (use the thickest--it goes faster)

g. Cover your answer or image with the white pen. And it's gone!

h. When you are ready to reveal, just use the eraser from the tray or the eraser tool and erase

* To set your default text:

a. Select the TEXT tool

b. Select the PROPERTIES tool--it's the bottom tab on the left, or the tool to the right of the text tool. It has a block of color and an A on it.

c. Choose TEXT STYLE

d. Make the changes you'd like to make

e. Click on SAVE TOOL PROPERTIES. Viola!
